Sporting Events

From Indy car racing to professional sports clubs for soccer, baseball, football and, of course, hockey - Vancouver keeps even the most discerning sports fan entertained. Fans possess a passion for their local teams, which adds to the excitement of any game in town!

BC Lions - Football
The 60,000-seat, domed BC Place stadium is home to the 2000 Canadian Football League champions, the BC Lions. Each year, nine Canadian teams compete, June to November, ending the season in a battle at the Grey Cup Championships - a Canadian tradition and a truly exciting event to watch! Canadian football is played with three downs on a longer and wider field than American football, which creates a faster-moving and more intense pass-oriented game.

Vancouver Canucks - Hockey
Canada loves hockey. It's considered the national sport - and cheering on your favorite team or player is the national pastime.

The Vancouver local team, the Canucks, play home games at GM Place and are so popular, games are often sold out from the beginning of the hockey season - so always book tickets well in advance!

Vancouver Canadians - Baseball
Come out and cheer on the Vancouver Canadians Professional Baseball Club! Enjoy a Hot-Dog & Beer in the beautiful outdoor setting of the best little ball park in the world - Nat Bailey Stadium! The C's play from June - Sept.

Casinos and Nightlife

The late-night scene in Vancouver is a thriving mix of ultra-hip lounges, laid-back pubs and energetic live music venues. There's also plenty of fun in dance clubs and other late-night venues to keep night owls entertained until the wee hours. Live music is never hard to find in Vancouver.

Local bands and international touring acts set up regularly in the clubs and venues around town with music ranging from blues to rock. Irish pubs are in just about every neighbourhood including Gastown and the West End. As a city that is welcoming to everyone, the gay and lesbian community is also a thriving part of Vancouver's nightlife scene. Start by checking out the area around Davie Street in the West End known as Davie Street Village. Afterwards, head over to Denman Street for more late-night fun and people watching.

Feeling lucky? With countless attractions, including entertainment, dining and an electrifying array of slots and games tables, Vancouver's casinos deliver an experience beyond comparison.

Sightseeing

The Vancouver area is surrounded by some of the most stunning natural beauty in the world. Mountains. Ocean. Rainforest. Parks. Beaches. This is a city like no other!

With endless options for activities, sights and attractions, Vancouver is a city to explore. By coach or minibus, horse-drawn carriage or helicopter, bicycle or on foot - on your own, as a couple, group or family - your choices for fun, excitement and enjoyment are limitless!

Whale Watching

Located on the Pacific Coast, the Vancouver area is lucky enough to be the watery home for many local Orca whales (also known as Killer whales), as well as being on the migratory route for a variety of other whales, such as the majestic grey and impressive humpback. Whale watching occurs throughout the year, generally running half days (3-5 hours) with the opportunity to view whales, dolphins, sea lions, seals and eagles as boats tour the coast of Vancouver.

Viewing a whale in the wild is a truly awe-inspiring experience - one not to be forgotten, and always with great photo opportunities. Tour boats can range from high speed zodiacs, fully equipped cruisers, to larger-scale cruise ships. Most tours offer such knowledgeable guides that you can expect a highly informative narrative - some even have onboard naturalists!
